Virtual Learning in Welding
During the last couple of years, millions or people around the world have adapted to online learning, virtual networking and events, and working online. And now, more hybrid events (virtual and live) are happening, including in the world of welding! We at Sidney Lee Welding Supply are always happy to answer any questions you may have and share helpful resources with our valued customers.
The American Welding Society (AWS), https://www.aws.org/home, has a number of resources available for its members, including certification, education, a bookstore, resources and events. While nothing beats in-person learning or networking, virtual or online options makes many more professional and educational opportunities available. Luckily, the AWS offers both. Check out their website for extensive information and resources about aerospace, automotive, certifications, bridges, design, education, friction welding, gas metal welding, food processing systems, inspection, metallurgy, plastics, railroads, robotic welding, safety and health and more. There are resources for online courses, professional development, a member network, and jobs in welding.
Perhaps you’re interested in becoming an instructor? AWS is currently seeking instructors for these subjects: WPS/PQR, Blueprint Reading and Writing, Visual Inspection, Hands-on NDT Workshop, Destructive Testing, Lean Management, Finance for Engineers, Leading High, Performance Teams, Starting an Inspection Business, Quality Management, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, and Business opportunities for CWIs.
According to the AWS, the “American Welding Society Learning is a virtual educational community for the welding industry produced by the American Welding Society…and was founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization. AWS continues to lead the way in supporting welding education and technology development to ensure a strong, competitive and exciting way of life for all Americans. The mission of American Welding Online is the same mission as the American Welding Society-–to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying. At its core, American Welding Society Learning fulfills this mission through education.”
