Georgia Welding in the News

As your destination for welding equipment in the Atlanta, GA area, we at Sidney Lee Welding Supply are always proud to learn of Georgia students who are welding, and welding well. This week in particular there seems to be an abundance of good news on this front, so we can’t help but sharing it with you, our dear blog readers.

Sidney Lee Welding Supply Co gladly extends our congratulations to Ryan Fincher of Georgia Northwestern Technical College, who is the first Georgian to be selected as the SkillsUSA World Team Welder. This competition will bring him to represent the United States in an international welding competition to be held this spring in Russia. With the $40,000 scholarship that comes with it, he’s already a winner. Fincher started to learn the art of welding back in High School and has spent the last few years close to winning all kinds of top-flight welding competitions. He’s medaled in metallurgy in China, winning bronze for his expertise with welding equipment. Now he seems set to go all the way and bring home gold for the USA by welding whatever metal the welding gods have wrought for the upcoming tournament. We have no doubt that he will continue his proud career as a welder in Georgia.

Speaking of medals for the students of welding in Georgia, more good news on this front comes from Putnam County. Local high school student Annabell Sapp has won first place in a male-dominated field for her creative assembly of metal roses in the Sculpture Division. She credits her talent for operating welding equipment to the Welding Studies she undertook at Central Georgia Technical College. Annabell loves the combination of art and technology that her flourishing career in welding has to offer her. We at Sidney Lee are proud to see a Georgia student go far with her welding skills, and look forward to seeing where her welding career will go.
